The motivation that leads to the birth of MAR - Argentiera Mine, the first open-air mining museum in augmented reality, is to enhance the history and identity of the former mining village of Argentiera in Sardinia. It creates a connection between tradition and innovation, through a new and fascinating artistic journey, able to involve and excite all of us.
MAR is an open-air museum that brings together public and private spaces, both open and closed: it tells the story of Argentiera in an original way. It moves through an emotional journey and is an installation designed to grow over time and able to combine knowledge, culture and fun.
This model aims to re-evaluate the area by experimenting in new formats narrating the identity and memories of Argentiera, through different paths and experiences.
MAR hosts three main exhibitions: the museal itinerary starts with a visit to the exhibitions "Memorie" in the ancient Laveria and "SottoSopra" in the Pozzo Podestà and continues through the buildings and old ruins of the village, populated by artistic installations, memories of yesterday and today, works of "Argentiera in Augmented Reality", visible to the human eye thanks to the technology of Bepart's app, which can be downloaded for free on your smartphone.
